About Ming Guan

I have both master’s and bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, I have been trained to look at things as a landscape designer. Through seven years of studying, I understand the field of design well. I can evaluate the site and make proper site suitability analysis, use design to solve the problems both proposed by stakeholders and originally existed in the field. I can present design ideas clearly through text and both quick hand sketches and computer drawings. I can also finish construction drawings and list cost estimates. During my time in UGA, I took the Plant community class. I am familiar with the plants in the southern part. During my pursuit of master’s degrees, I strengthened my research and academic writing ability as well as my organizational skills. I have two Intern experiences, and both were very challenging. During the Interns, I managed my time efficiently and finished tasks given by experienced colleagues. While working as a landscape architect intern at East China Architectural Design and Research Institute during the summer of 2017, I participated in the design and construction of Huangpu waterfront park (EXPO part). I was able to visit the site and take quality photos for doing a site analysis and making site reports using PowerPoint. I identified the existing vegetation and drew the existing plant arrangement in Auto CAD. I used Sketchup and Lumion to build 3D models for both the current site and designed plan. I used Photoshop to draw enlarge masterplans and design perspectives that match company style and quality requirements. I drew hand graphic to show client detailed design ideas when necessary. I used Auto CAD to finish construction drawings according to masterplan and the company’s requirements. I was able to use InDesign to layout a complete case to present to clients.
