About Ming Yang

I specialize in research and teaching within the domains of safety, risk, and environmental engineering. My research is centered on the development of risk and resilience models to enhance safety, security, and environmental management, particularly within industrial settings. The courses I teach encompass a broad spectrum, from safety and reliability engineering to pollution prevention and control. My research endeavors are driven by two primary objectives:(a) to advance fundamental and conceptual understanding of risk, including its assessment and management, and (b) to generate applied knowledge regarding the integration of safety and risk management across various sectors, such as oil and gas, marine transportation, construction, and public security. Currently, my research focuses on several key areas: 1. Quantitative resilience assessment of engineered systems, 2. Dynamic risk management strategies for process systems, 3. Condition monitoring for asset integrity management, 4. Risk-based methodologies for engineering design and operations, and 5. Exploring the role of data-driven approach and AI for enhanced process safety. These areas underscore my commitment to creating a safer, more secure, and environmentally sustainable industrial landscape through rigorous research and comprehensive education.
