About Mingming Tong

Mingming Tong is a PhD student in the lab of Dr Junichi Sadoshima at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. He earned his BS and MS from Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, where he studied the role of mitophagy in Parkinson disease. In his current PhD work, Mingming is studying the role of autophagy and mitophagy in high-fat diet-induced diabetic cardiomyopathy. He is also working on new strategies for heart repair. After his PhD education, he intends to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular research where he can apply by applying approaches from multiple disciplines to solve complex problems. Outside of the lab, Mingming is a progressive landscape photographer. With his photographs, he wants to express a special way of viewing the world that he is unable to tell us with words. Mingming wants to travel as much as possible to beautiful places and use his camera to reveal the magic natural world for a fraction of a second. Mingming’s favorite movie is Harry Potter, and he enjoys reading the Game of Thrones Series. He believes that, “What does not kill you makes you stronger.”
