About Mingyuan Wei

I am a Master's student in Environmental Science at Wageningen University & Research, with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. I have recently completed a six-month position as a Laboratory Assistant at Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), where I ensured the lab environment remained safe, set up and calibrated laboratory equipment, and conducted detailed sample analyses. I have also worked as an Operations Technician at Guangzhou Hongsheng Tech. Development Co, Ltd, where I familiarized myself with the process flow and operating system of wastewater treatment in international flavors and fragrances (IFF) plants in Huangpu, Guangzhou. My core competencies include research skills, English as a second language (ESL), and Chinese. As a Laboratory Assistant at GTIIT, I collaborated with professors and researchers to conduct experiments on various environmental topics, such as membrane filtration (reverse osmosis). I collected, prepared, and analyzed samples using different methods and instruments, such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography. I also maintained and troubleshooted the lab equipment, followed safety protocols, and documented and reported the results. As an Operations Technician at Hongsheng Tech, I supported the wastewater treatment process in IFF plants, by collecting and testing samples, monitoring and adjusting the parameters, and keeping records of the weather, temperature, and volume of wastewater treated. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong interest in environmental engineering and sustainability, and I am eager to apply my skills and knowledge to contribute to the field. I believe that I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as I have studied and worked in different countries and cultures, and I am fluent in both English and Chinese. I am motivated by the challenge and opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
