About Miranda Barrera

After graduating from the University of Texas in Arlington in 2010, I moved to Houston where I began my pursuit to a career in architecture. I started as a temporary employee at Acumen Design. While under the wings of Jerry Alexander and Dick Lew, both had a tremendous amount of faith in my eye for design and gave me the opportunity to learn and work with their creative team as an assistant graphic/ architectural designer. Immediately to follow, I landed an internship at Houston based architecture firm, Levinson Alcoser Associates. There as Project Coordinator, I assisted Walgreens architect Ed Lau (among others) with the development and coordination of construction documents, shop drawings and site planning and development. I also created numerous digital renderings for Capital One Bank. Currently, I am living in Austin, Texas where I was born and raised. Since moving back, I have been working as an intern at Kelly Grossman Architects, where I assist with the coordination of construction documents for multi-family housing projects. These experiences have given me a great amount of knowledge in design and construction. I am inspired to continue working with other design professionals and gaining more insight and becoming a more well-rounded designer. At the top of my list to help broaden my skills and further my career as a designer is to work for an Austin based residential design firm.
