Background
About Miranda Eeles
Extensive experience in both the UK and abroad in a variety of technical and leadership roles, from contract management, monitoring and evaluation, research, advocacy, training, strategy development and partnership brokering. I have worked for the UN's Children's Agency UNICEF, BBC Media Action and as a reporter for the BBC, The Times and ITN. Since 2016, I have worked in local authority Public Health, firstly in the London Borough of Hackney and then at Gloucestershire County Council. I now work for the Gloucester Community Building Collective, helping to connect people, spark action and unlock potential. Whilst working for the BBC's international charity, BBC Media Action, I supported their Bangladesh office develop their emergency response capacity and built partnerships with a range of different governmental and NGOs to improve two-way communication with crisis-affected populations. I have experience in project design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of multiple platform communication initiatives in Kenya and Somalia whilst working on the ‘infoasaid’ project. I have extensive media and communication experience, having worked for UNICEF for five years, first in Iran as a Communication Officer, and then in Geneva in the Media and Emergencies Unit, giving media guidance and fundraising support to UNICEF’s 36 National Committees, representing UNICEF at the Palais des Nations and being deployed to a number of different countries during an emergency. I also come with experience both in domestic and foreign news, having worked as a journalist for 5 years in London and 3 years abroad. I can work well and effectively under pressure, having had ample experience in Iran, managing the BBC bureau and reporting when major news events occurred, including the Bam earthquake and student demonstrations.
