About Miranda Green

Miranda Green is an award-winning national investigative journalist based in Los Angeles with more than 12 years of professional reporting and editing experience. Currently she’s the author of The Understory, a weekly climate newsletter for Atmos Magazine that explains the intersections of environmental policy, politics and culture and is working on a research project for Columbia University’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism on Pink-Slime news. Previously she was the National Investigative Reporter and HuffPost and the Director of Investigations at Floodlight News, a non-profit climate investigations newsroom, which she joined as the first full-time employee. There she helped grow the team from two to 10; oversaw the national investigative unit as director; helped devise its strategic coverage plan; reported long-form investigative pieces on the oil and gas industry and power companies; and established reporting collaborations with partners including NPR, ProPublica and The Los Angeles Times. Her reporting and editing has received multiple awards including winner of the National Press Club's 2025 Arthur E. Rowse Award for Examining the News Media, honorable mention for the National Press Foundation's 2025 Stokes Award for Best Energy and Environment Writing, winner of the SELC's 2024 Reed Environmental Writing Award and a finalist for Harvard's 2023 Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting. Her reporting has frequently appeared in The Washington Post, New York Magazine, The New York Times, The Atlantic, NBC, The Guardian and NPR. Previously she worked as a political reporter in Washington, D.C. for 7 years where she covered politics and environmental policy, breaking news and getting scoops as a staff reporter at CNN, The Hill, The Daily Beast and Scripps News.
