About Miranda McKee

As a researcher, educator, curator, and public program designer, I am driven by a passion for the visual arts, photography, and social justice pedagogies. With over a decade of experience in the arts and culture sector, I have developed exhibitions and public programmes that served as meaningful spaces for community building and critical dialogue. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Communications & Culture at York University in a joint program with Toronto Metropolitan University. My academic journey builds upon a Master's in Education for Change with a specialization in Social Justice Education from Lakehead University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, where I pursued a double major in Visual Studies and Philosophy. My commitment to bridging academia and artistic practice is evident in my diverse roles, including serving as a Contract Lecturer, Curator, Graduate Research Assistant and public program designer. My extensive background includes leadership roles such as Head of Communications for UNESCO DCMET Symposia, where I coordinated multilingual communications for impactful global events. I have also contributed significantly as a Programs Manager at Alserkal, Dubai, and as a Senior Manager of Visual Arts at the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, Abu Dhabi, and curator at Gulf Photo Plus, Dubai's centre for photography. These experiences have enriched my expertise in curating exhibitions, managing public programs, and fostering collaborations within the arts and culture sector.
