About Miranda Saarentaus

As a professional in geographical information systems and databases, and later applied remote sensing, Saarentaus started her career developing the production line for digital cartography. During the years at the Defense, she was responsible for the Finnish Defense digital map production. As a team manager for the remote sensing business she was involved in many international and domestic research oriented and operational environmental projects. Besides remote sensing, she also worked as a coordinator for a large international land management project in Africa, and as sector coordinator in two Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency) programs, Safety & Security and International Water. Since 2011, she hold her own company Geowise Ltd. Geowise is a consulting company with expertise in the areas of Environmental Technologies, Geospatial Information & Earth Observation (EO) and Safety & Security. Experienced and globally oriented, Geowise coordinates and carries out international as well as domestic development, research and marketing projects. Our main services include project coordination, strategic planning, internationalisation consultancy especially for SMEs, Horizon 2020 Tuition, commercialisation of research results and the composition of various marketing materials. Key qualifications Management consulting, project management and coordination. Marketing, customer service, consulting international projects and tendering processes, finding resources. Organizing and recruiting Finnish SMEs for international business visits, fairs and EU partnering events. International sales in key areas geospatial applications, applied remote sensing, land management and location based services. Designing training courses and seminars, also internationally. Implementing remote sensing applications with GIS traditional methods. Lecturing at the Helsinki University of Technology (Fall 2002 – 2004).
