About Mireille Tchapi

Dr Mireille Tchapi (PhD, MArch, MA-social science) is a licensed architect (Paris) and doctor in urbanism (University of Tokyo), currently working on the new research project -"London creative communities toward sustainability" at the University of Westminster. With an interdisciplinary spirit, her research interests cover public space, urban identity & memory, sustainability, urban ecology, landscape, perception, environmental psychology, wellbeing, urban morphogenesis, participative design & grassroots, and urban studies of Pacific Asia context. She took part to several research & teaching projects in Pacific Asia (Japan, China, Singapore, Taipei, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Jaipur) and Europe, and has been awarded research fellowships to work on neighbourhood’s urbanity of Tokyo and Kyoto (MEXT fellowship for her PhD, Tokyo; EFEO postdoc grant award in 2018, Tokyo-Kyoto). She also worked as a research fellow on landscape guidelines framework for public housings, at the National university of Singapore. Dr Tchapi has been involved in several grassroots activities in London, Japan and Singapore. Part of a curriculum involves teaching about landscape, urban ecology, sustainability and following master thesis about urban research and practices, at the National School of architecture of Strasbourg (ENSAS).
