Background
About Mitch Deshields
The most important thing to understand about me is that I am a builder of software. My tools of choice are C#, Azure, and SQL. Like any good builder, I have many other tools in my toolbox. I believe in the using the right tool for the job but not being religious about what is ‘right’. The products of my constructions are robust, elegant, secure, and finely crafted applications, services, and databases that follow proven patterns and practices. I am currently a Solution Architect for UCSF Health working on their implementing a Building Information Modeling (BIM) process to guide the delivery of complex building data into the UCSF Computerized Maintenance Management System (IBM Maximo). Previous to my work at UCSF I was Master Bot Builder at Bot Maker Technologies (BMT)- a company I founded in 2016 to improve the chatbot construction process. The BMT chatbot platform combines natural language understanding engines with a high-level conversation 'script' to produce intelligent, useful, and manageable chatbots. This platform is in production with several FinTech and EduTech companies. Prior to BMT, I worked at MoneyGram Intl and Nexxo Financial Corp where I designed, coded, and supported a transaction processing platform that has been in production for 12 years, performed over 7M transaction for about $1.85B USD, and served over 1M customers. I believe software is better when produced by a small team of talented individuals. I believe Agile is the only development methodology that reflects the reality of today’s changing business requirements. I believe in service oriented architecture, cloud, and loosely coupled systems.
