About Mitch Douglas

I have been in the service industry for many years as a store manager and training manager. I have built very successful sales teams that have been diverse and service driven. I have a true passion for customer service and when that is the store culture and teams vision it makes bottom line p&l results a big win for everybody. I have done several big box grand openings and each one was very successful and beat expectations. As store manager I did all final interviews and made all job offers. This ensured we were hiring the right people and putting them in a role that allowed them to utilize their own talents and be successful. We made sure they were trained. We tracked the employees training by doing 30, 60, and 90 day follow up meetings. Ensuring that all the employees were trained gave the company an engaged and more productive employee. Selecting the right people and coaching, training and mentoring them helped keep turn over well below company guidelines. Having the opportunity to do the grand openings gave me the chance to learn a lot about empowerment and team building. If you really want to get all your associates to believe in the vision and the end results then you have to get out and spend time with the associates and get to know them and listen to their ideas. Allowing the associates to express their ideas without the feelings of fear or uncertainty truly gets their buy in on the process. Giving empowerment to every associate is the best way I know to promote a team environment.
