About Mitchel Baker

I am an academically-minded mechanical engineer with a background in research and development and aviation safety. In addition to recently beginning a job at the Centre for Particle Physics at the University of Alberta, I am in the final stages of completing a master's degree in fluid mechanics. Before returning to complete a graduate degree at the University of Alberta, I was a member of the research and development group in the Completions business unit at Weatherford, a multi-national oil services company. I have been involved in the development of a number of products that contributed to the profitability of our business unit. My professional interests outside of my regular employment include fluid dynamics and traditional as well as alternative energy sources. Prior to my work in engineering and aviation I completed a degree in physiology and physics, and maintain an interest in both of these fields. Additionally, I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam which would permit me to pursue registration as a professional engineer in the United States.
