About Mitchell A. Enriquez

I discovered the importance of thinking critically and teaching others to think critically, immediately after I stepped foot on campus at UCLA. Shortly thereafter, I fell in love with philosophy and discovered my insatiable desire to teach others the joys of philosophy, and more importantly, how to engage with the world! Through my undergraduate education at UCLA, I emphasized my coursework around the philosophy of science and spent more time studying that subject area in my M.A. program at SFSU. Shortly after joining Blue Bottle Coffee in the Bay Area, I realized that my passion for teaching was highly effective in training others to master barista and hospitality skill sets. I have had the fortunate opportunity to travel to different markets across the U.S. to teach others and serve guests from near and far. All of which provided me with a robust background to pursue a career in law! But why make the switch? Like many others, I had time to rethink my career trajectory as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and I wanted to use my education in service to others. I looked back on old self-assessments and discovered, with a lot of help, that I could actually use my background by pursuing a career in law. To test the waters, I applied to multiple firms within my area and was fortunately hired by the Alvarez Firm, A Law Corporation. My time with the Alvarez Firm taught me that a law firm's role is not to merely advocate for your client but to be with them and counsel them through good and bad times. I learned not to treat our clients as another transaction but as beings of dignity and respect. And by doing so, your work becomes self-advocating without pontificating, caring and thorough. I learned further, that I want to pursue a career that is catered to Trusts and Estates, Probate, Elder Law, and litigation for those areas. I am eager to pursue this path and look forward to my future legal career!
