About Mitchell Cohan

I am a senior studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with hands on experience in product testing, design, and project management. My most recent role as a Product Test Engineer Intern at John Deere Horicon Works allowed me to apply my technical expertise and problem solving skills to deliver impactful results. At John Deere, I developed a benchmarking protocol for utility vehicles to perform frame torsion tests, ensuring compliance with ISO, ANSI, and internal standards. Additionally, I enhanced test efficiency and accuracy by creating a system to monitor load cell specifications, repair, and calibration. As a student leader, I successfully organized the only accepted student-proposed senior design project. Our team designed and built a hydroplane boat capable of reaching speeds of 30+ mph with a 15hp outboard engine. I contributed my carpentry experience, along with SolidWorks and ANSYS expertise, while adhering to small boat codes and standards. My passion for boating, engines, and the outdoors runs deep. At 16, I purchased my first boat, a 1996 Skeeter with a 150hp Mariner engine, before even buying my first car! This early exposure sparked a lifelong interest in mechanics, driving me to further explore and develop my skills in both boating and engine technology. I am passionate about utilizing my diverse experiences to develop innovative solutions for companies, whether in strategic planning or product design.
