About Mitchell Hughes

I am a first year Games Design student with a background in Electrical Engineering with a creative and logically sound mind. I enjoy problem solving and take pleasure in the feeling of overcoming a difficult challenge with a complete solution. In undertaking my Engineering degree we found a way to theoretically deliver affordable electricity to a third world county as part of an Engineers without borders challenge. Our solution used cheap but modern components to deliver an energy source that not only exceeded the expected output but also provided a secondary income to families as the extra energy generated could be sold back into the grid. The proposal we presented to 500 of our peers and professionals in the field was voted most popular by the students and the runner-up solution by members of the Engineers without borders team. I've always enjoyed working on big projects and finding practical solutions to real problems. I always find I work well in a team and endeavor to provide as much input and feedback into the design process as I can while also asking for the same from my colleagues. This allows me to be fully immersed in the project and gain the understanding required to see the big picture and ensure we deliver a complete project. Video games have always been a source of joy in my life and I've decided to pursue a career in their design and development. I've always wanted to use my vast imagination to create beautiful lush worlds for others to enjoy and explore. I believe my education has given me the problem solving skills required to help develop these games and in five years I aspire to be on a development team for the next Destiny or Halo or battle-arena game so I can show my vision to the rest of the world.
