Patrick Lencioni, author and teamwork enthusiast, often refers to what he likes to call the “Sunday Blues.” It’s that feeling of Nausea you get on Sunday afternoon (or maybe even late Saturday night) that makes you dread returning to work on Monday morning. I have made a vow to myself that I would never settle for feeling that drudgery during the weekend. My goal in the workplace is to do everything I can to prevent my team and those I work with to settle for it either. My name is Mitchell and I love Mondays. I graduated from Ashford University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. I have worked in various leadership roles over the past 13 years of my career and have made the most out of all of them. Even though I have found myself in difficult work environments, I have been successful in creating teams and empowering those I work with to succeed and to love their jobs. I am a firm believer that the task of the job and compensation aren’t what motivate us to wake up and grind. Working as a member of a healthy organization is what fuels that drive. Feeling valued is an essential aspect of finding a career that we can be proud to be a part of for the long haul. We will work our tails off when we feel that our work actually matters. As you can see from my experience, I have worked in several different fields ranging from food and beverage to the healthcare industry. My success in all of these industries has been a product of my hunger, teachability and desire to get better at what I do. I currently work as a Travel Coordinator for the largest burn care company in the U.S. I enjoy my job and I love getting to interact with our physicians and employees daily. Although travel is my game, workplace culture is my name.(I know, kind of cheesy) Everything I aim to accomplish has a central focus on making my environment a better place to work. If I can be the reason someone doesn’t dread coming to work on Monday morning, my work has been a success.
