About Mitchell Little

I am honored by my recent appointment by Mayor James F. Kenney as the new Executive Director of The Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment & Opportunity. I intend to lead CEO’s expansion of our work and deepen our collaboration with other agencies, integrating the Shared Prosperity agenda and better aligning the $700 million that the City spends each year on combating poverty and its effects. As Executive Director, I will also serve as a member of the Health & Human Services Cabinet alongside other key City agencies, working together to support vulnerable individuals and families. My time as the Deputy Director at CEO uniquely prepared me for this latest challenge. Under the leadership of Eva Gladstein, I served the Nutter Administration for the last three years, supporting the reorganization of CEO as we transitioned into our new role as a collective impact organization. I bring nearly 20 years of experience in government and non-profit fields, working to combat poverty through direct intervention and systems-level change. Prior to joining City government, I served as the Deputy Executive Director of Diversified Community Services, where I oversaw youth and family services, external relations, communications and facilities among other critical roles. I am most proud to have started my career as a social worker and am still guided by the same human centered approach to the work today.
