About Mitchell Neaves

Currently serving as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the University of the Virgin Islands, Mitchell Neaves has over seventeen years of experience working as an advancement professional within higher education. He serves as a lead relationship developer for alumni, donors, and internal and external stakeholders alike. With an extensive background engaging individuals and affinity groups throughout the Caribbean and the United States, he has worked for three U.S. universities cultivating hundreds of relationships for his institutions. As a seasoned fundraiser, Mr. Neaves has worked with over 200 individual donors, corporations and foundations supporting a variety of university initiatives. Current successes within fundraising include initiatives expanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs, hosting signature special events (Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands Golf Classic, The Tom Joyner School of the Month and Fantastic Voyage Cruise, and promoting the UVI Annual Fund Campaign. He annually secures in excess of five hundred thousand dollars for his institution. As an advancement leader, he has worked with a variety of boards and community organizations including the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees, Rotary, Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, and the Michigan State University Alumni Association. In addition to serving as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, he currently serves as the Executive Director for the Foundation for the Reichhold Center. Prior to working at the University of the Virgin Islands, Mr. Neaves held several positions within the Michigan State University Athletic Department. He earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University and his undergraduate degree in Sociology from Michigan State University.
