About Mitchell Rae

I am completing a master's by research program at the department of mathematics and statistics in the University of Limerick. I am still exploring new fields of interest in mathematics and physics while completing other full-time research. Taking a keen interest in the nature of turbulence and chaos, I am currently exploring the mathematical tools that can be used in this field and I am excited by the vast array of mathematics that I am yet to indulge in. I am eager to begin a career in research and academia, focusing on theoretical and mathematical physics. I have completed a rather unconventional path through my degree, tackling "capstone modules" before completing the previous foundational modules. This led me to a highly independent and self-motivated learning style, often researching and understanding concepts entirely independently. This gave me the skills to go far beyond the scope of my module syllabus, extending my knowledge by following my interests. My degree in Australia was a true challenge of time management skills, independent thinking skills, research skills, and a true test of my determination. during my first two years completed in Australia, I worked part-time, consistently volunteered for two NPOs, casually volunteered at other events, and casually private tutored. I became the president of my university's student representative committee (SRC) which took a large chunk of my time and focus. as an indivudual, I am an adventurous person who loves to travel and learn about the world around me, on a fundamental level of mathematics and physics, but also on a very natural and human level as well. I am inspired by life and strive to make an impact with my time. I love to read non-fiction, play guitar, and learn. My academic and career goal is to complete a PhD in mathematical/theoretical physics research.
