Let’s cut to the chase. I love projects and leading a team! I took a group of inner-city high school students and lead them to success in the rigorous and demanding environment of NASA micro-gravity testing despite having no formal NASA experience or training at the onset. Note, this was done without previous experience in Microsoft office, Solidworks or CAD; all were self-taught “on the fly “, yet these high school students were prepared and performed as college students. But here is the thing. Concurrent to this project, duties also required development of new program curriculum for daily educational demonstrations; management/maintenance of the chemical/equipment inventory for the demonstration labs; presentation of daily/weekly educational science demonstrations; development and management of an entire FIRST Lego league competition and team practices for both regional and state! Sadly, just after this was accomplished, I had to leave the work force to care for a diseased parent. But note it was not long after returning to the work force in a capacity of expertise that I was sought out by SpaceX needing tooling and fixture expertise but again, without specific launchpad experience. The concepts behind lean, six sigma, 5 or 6S, green/black belt, kaizen, or other Toyota Production System principles are nothing new to this candidate (remember Red X?). A proficiency with self-development of MS Excel, MS Word and programming, extensive manufacturing expertise, combined with being in the right place at the right time has afforded several unexpected opportunities well beyond the scope of my formal education, to perform and manage engineering and testing duties successfully. The use of the scientific method in all circumstances and duties, regardless of job title, has compounded my skill base and capabilities continuously.
