About Mitchell van Oosten

Three things capture my attention more than anything else: 1. Decarbonising our society as quickly and as cost effectively as possible 2. Making connections to learn from and teach one another the skills that will be needed to get us there 3. Empowering those who could use a bit of a tailwind to improve their quality of life I am thrilled that my career has now provided me opportunities which have allowed me to do all three of the above at once, and to be applying and expanding upon that experience with Naked Energy. It is my pleasure to assist customers looking to implement the carbon savings technologies that Naked Energy has developed, knowing that they will be able to deliver on their financial and carbon targets. In my previous role in the Sustainability team at School Infrastructure New South Wales, I had the joy of helping public schools around the state get the most out of their solar PV systems. Initiatives that I was been involved in included- development of documentation and policies to improve the remote monitoring of our 1600 systems - collaborating on a business-wide sustainability strategy, and - designing programs to engage communities in drought-affected areas. Earlier, as Project Engineer and Registered Training Organisation tutor, I thoroughly enjoyed providing support to students studying toward solar design and install accreditation. Their enthusiasm in the industry bolsters my optimism that we can progress to a low-carbon economy. I also had the opportunity to work for a major government client, gaining the experience in engineering consulting. As a height safety technician, my perspective was that of the worker on site, responsible for implementing engineered safety improvements to high profile public and government buildings. Previously as an estimator at a civil contracting company, I became aware of the aspects involved in creating a profitable, competitive proposal.
