About Mitzi Trooien

I am interested in applying for a teaching position at a high school for Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences or Physical science. My licensure is in Life Sciences for 9-12 grades and a Chemistry license. I am currently teaching at IES in Falun, Sweden. I have been teaching at Montevideo High School in Montevideo, MN for the two years. I have taught the following classes, biology, physical science, concurrent Biology and Earth School physical science and chemistry. I have a total of 17 years of teaching with 8 years of teaching at the college level in the sciences and have experience in teaching with the younger students through substitute teaching and various extracurricular activities, especially as a director at a summer program in the sciences at the Science Vision during the summers in Brookings, SD. While teaching at Montevideo, I have had to write and implement the curriculum in Biology and Chemistry along with the Physical Science courses that meet the Minnesota State Standards while bringing a fresh look at the sciences. I also had to write the curriculum for the Earth School, which is part of the high school for students-at-risk. The student population is quite diverse so I have worked closely with students who are ESL students. The last two years I have been teaching science classes, biology, chemistry, physics and technology at middle school in Falun, Sweden. The student population is mainly Swedish but there are international students from various countries. English is the second language to most of the students.
