About Moeketsi Moticoe

Moeketsi began his career in 2004 working as a freelance photographer and writer for Hype magazine. He later worked with the UN on a joint exhibition based on African refugees living in SA. Following that Moeketsi joined The Star newspaper and later worked for The Times newspaper as a Photojournalist. He has been invited as main speaker and facilitator at Vega school of branding, Alf Khumalo Photo Academy and the Market Photo Workshop. In 2009 he moved to Cape Town and joined Sunday Times as a senior Photojournalist/Multimedia producer. Following that his work received its first international recognition at the Recontres d’Arles in France. Later showcasing his work at Addis Foto festival in Ethiopia. He further worked on documenting street fashion in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin, and later hosted his solo exhibition at Misael gallery in Cape Town. In 2011 he exhibited his work in a joint exhibition in California, USA. Later in the year he was chosen to showcase his work at the Bomako Encounters at Cinémathèque du Musée National in Paris. Following that he co-founded Artistic Eye pilot program in Cape Town and later worked as a school photographer for MugsyClicks whilst simultaneously training multimedia and applied photography to school pupils in San Francisco under AE project. In 2013 He hosted “No Idea”, street photo exhibition, and later presented his fashion work at the Photo/Film expo at the Dome. He was later the only African photographer invited to join the judging panel at the Nikon Photo-Film Contest International in Tokyo, Japan were he was then made the Nikon Ambassador for Africa. Following that he launched Eye See Africa project, hosting workshops at Con Hill and MOCA in Nairobi. He later worked on digitizing the project into an E-Learning Online platform at the DIZ (Digital Innovation Zone) empowered by Wits University. Later he joined EyeWitness News as the Multimedia Content Editor. Moeketsi is currently the Picture Researcher/Picture Editor at Media24.
