About Mohamed Nagi Elsayed

I used to be a psychiatrist. But I thought looking at the bigger picture would be more intriguing, so I quit. I then had the opportunity to pursue a career in public health and work closely with policymakers at the Ministry of Health. My little contribution to Egypt's first Universal Health Insurance system as a young technical officer will always be a significant source of pride. My time at the WHO Regional Office for the East Mediterranean broadened my exposure beyond Egypt, and deepened my understanding of health system structure, financing, and essential public health functions. Working in such a diverse region sharpened my skills in analyzing the socioeconomic dynamics impacting health system performance, facilitating my work on numerous projects across the region. Currently, with the AIIB, I hope to use my technical expertise to contribute to AIIB health investments and efforts to strengthen health systems in Asia and across member countries!
