About Mohammad Afif Hirzi

Afif has been with ABNR since graduating from the University of Indonesia in 2021, where he majored in business law. At ABNR, he is a member of a dedicated Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) team that regularly advises many of the world’s best-known technology, telecommunications, internet and social-media companies on Indonesian regulatory issues and licensing matters, such as telecommunications network operations, telecommunications services operations, cloud computing and services, data center operation, privacy and personal data protection, e-commerce operation, and over-the-top (OTT) media and communications services. Afif also works on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), general corporate, capital markets, real estate and foreign direct investment matters. In M&A, Afif has been involved in numerous M&A related due diligence projects and transactions. He recently served on the team that advised Yamato Kogyo Co, Ltd.(Japan), Siam Yamato Steel Co, Ltd.(Thailand), and PT Hanwa Indonesia (a subsidiary of Hanwa Co, Ltd.(Japan) on their acquisition of the long steel products division of Indonesian steel manufacturer PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk. In TMT-related M&A, Afif played a significant role as part of the ABNR team that advised PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom Indonesia), the largest state-owned telecommunications company in Indonesia, on one of the most ambitious business transformation projects in the country's TMT sector. ABNR provided Telkom Indonesia with strategic advice on the transaction and regulatory implications of the asset and business carve-out, including unregulated issues in the telecommunications sector. Afif was also part of the ABNR team that advised PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL) for the sale of 859 telecommunication towers to PT Edotco Infrastruktur Indonesia, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s Edotco, for IDR 750 billion, with the towers then leased back by Edotco to XL at a rental of IDR 1.195 trillion for 12 years. In real estate, he was a member of the ABNR team that advised PT Anaga Group Indonesia, part of Daidan Group, in connection with the USD 40 million land acquisition for the development of a mixed-use complex (District 9 / Kawasan APIC Senopati) in South Jakarta. During his university years, Afif played a key role in the Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) Local Chapter Universitas Indonesia as he was a member of ALSA’s Board of Directors in 2020 and served as the Project Officer of ALSA Care and Legal Coaching Clinic in 2018.
