About Mohammad Aqil

I am Mohammad Aqil and I hold a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Rohilkhand University, India, which I obtained in 2002. Later, I pursued my Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India in 2004, and my M.Phil degree from Alagappa University Tamilnadu in 2009. I started my career as a library trainee (2004-2005) at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi, India, and then joined Jahangirabad Institute of Technology, Barabanki, India as a librarian from 2005 to 2009. After that, I moved to Saudi Arabia and joined King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, in 2009, where I worked on the KSU institutional repository project for two and a half years. Currently, I am serving as a lecturer and head of collection development and management at the deanship of library affairs, Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I am also designated as the liaison librarian for the College of Architecture and Planning. I have a particular interest in teaching and training the library user community. Since 2018, I have been teaching a two-credit information literacy course to college of engineering students and have been conducting library orientation classes to preparatory year students since 2013. Additionally, I have conducted advanced training and workshops on various proprietary databases and research tools such as Endnote, Mendeley, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, Ebook Central, Springer Books, and more. My research areas include Digital libraries, Bibliometrics, Scientometrics, Institutional repositories, Web 2.0 and libraries. I have authored eight research papers published in national and international journals of repute. I am interested in research collaboration in the area of bibliometrics and scientometrics. I am honored to be part of the International Advisory Board of an online journal entitled International Research: Journal of Library & Information Science. I am also a reviewer of COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management.
