About Mohammad Hallaq

As a Master’s research student deeply immersed in wireless communications, I am driven by a strong curiosity to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can enhance the future of connectivity. My current focus lies at the intersection of TinyML and wireless systems, where I develop compact, efficient AI models optimized for resource-constrained environments. At the WAVES Lab at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Hatem Abou-Zeid, I am working on cutting-edge research involving tiny, lightweight wireless foundation models. This includes adapting Vision Transformers, exploring federated learning for collaborative edge intelligence, and investigating on-device training methods, all aimed at practical and energy-efficient AI solutions for 6G and beyond. By also leveraging Software-defined Radios (SDRs) and pushing the boundaries of edge AI, my goal is to make wireless networks more intelligent, resilient, and adaptive, unlocking new frontiers in seamless and sustainable connectivity.
