About Mohammad Rahim Sobhani
Mohammad Rahim Sobhani, born in Tabriz, Iran, earned his B.Sc. with honors in Biomedical Engineering (Bio-electric) from Sahand University of Technology in 2012 and later obtained his M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Ozyegin University in 2015. Since joining ZempLab at the University of Alberta in late 2018, Mohammad has specialized in developing ultrasound arrays and systems. During his Ph.D, he has made significant contributions to the fabrication of unprecedented large electrostrictive top-orthogonal-to-bottom-electrode (eTOBE) arrays through an innovative fabrication process. His work has been pioneering the fabrication of large-area eTOBE arrays and implementing them in ultrasound/photoacoustic imaging schemes, making them competitive with state-of-the-art commercial ultrasound machines. He has over 1,900 hours of nano-fabrication and cleanroom experience.
