About Moises Pagan

My name is Moises Pagan and I am an educator who, interested in the field of behavioral analysis, became a Registered Behavior Technician. This interest initially sparked when my child was diagnosed with Autism. Even though I was having a successful career as an educator, I began experiencing the mental, physical and emotional struggles which parents suffer when confronting this new reality and no longer felt complete as an educator. My new goal is to dedicate my life to helping individuals with behavioral disorders. New to the role of an RBT (2020), I strive to continue soaking up all the knowledge and experience that I can. I thirst for opportunities to learn and grow in the field, not fearing any challenge, for I know that I will be supported along the way and every experience is a learning experience. I want to build connections with team members and together work towards helping individuals become more independent and overcome any challenging behaviors. I feel that my experience as an educator and as a father of a child with Autism have provided me with various skills that are a boon in any behavioral health position. As an educator, I have learned to build rapport and work with children of various age groups. I have also learned to work with parents as a team, acquiring the skills to effectively communicate with them in a compassionate yet careful manner. As the father of a child with ASD, I have acquired a very important attribute -compassion. This started as a selfish goal to help my child, but swiftly developed into something bigger. I now want to give and help other individuals grow as well. In the end, as an educator a had been leading a successful career (even teacher of the year at one point), but that chapter in my life has concluded and a new one has begun. I am truly excited to embark on this journey to helping individuals with behavioral health challenges and hope to acquire new skills and abilities which I will use to change the lives of many individuals and their families. I have the skills and the passion; I also have the energy and the desire to grow. All I need now are the experiences!
