About Molly de Smith

Hello! I’m Molly – I’m a textile design graduate open to roles in a textile design studio, manufacturing and in print related areas. During my university experience I had live projects with Habitat and Ricamour embroideries where I've pitched and presented and created collections in a matter of 3 to 4 weeks. I have also gained experience in a design studio where I worked with Studio Thread on one of their current global projects. I was tasked with organising hundreds to thousands of fabrics and creating colour lines, as well as learning a lot about how an interior textile design studio creates, develops and completes a collection. Throughout my degree I have explored printmaking with bold designs and impactful colours, and I have gained design skills such as: Multi-layer screen printing, designing for repeat, digital printing, sublimation printing, laser cutting, devore, digital and hand embroidery, embellishment and dyeing. I am also proficient in Adobe Photoshop. I pride myself on making joyful and colourful designs with graphic and playful prints. In my design process, I love experimenting through mark-making, collage, drawing, painting, as well as three dimensionally to create interesting textures and patterns.
