About Molly Dugan

I was recently in a leadership seminar during which the instructor handed out a set of 50 cards to each audience member and asked us to select from a group of 50, then 6, then 4, then 2, the cards that most represented our values. After a few minutes of thought and some relatively easy trade offs, I looked down at my selections. Passion and Fun. Among a suite of options that included Life-long Learning, Empowerment, Accountability, and Process Orientation (all of which featured in my top 6), Passion and Fun were the two things that I decided I just couldn’t live without — at home and at work. I realized in that moment that throughout my educational development, early travels, career and personal life, I had always been guided by the pursuit of these two very things. And it is those two things — while met with a bit of derision from my mostly engineering and operational peers in training that day— that have enabled me to be energetic, dedicated, optimistic and effective in every role I’ve held. I’d like to say that it has been my intellect, leadership skills, intuition, competitive edge, multilingual capabilities, or good old-fashioned grit that have made me a successful professional. But apparently, I owe it all to Passion and Fun.
