Professional Licensed Social Worker in Macro practice as Community Engagement Manager at Rensselaer Plateau Alliance, an amazing land trust in upstate New York that has conserved acres in the last 5 years. In this role, I work to make authentic partnerships within our region, listen to our community to ensure they find excitement and meaningful support from conserved wild land, and support equity and access in the environmental movement. I spend much of my time speaking with community groups and in college classes, co-creating creative solutions and projects, leading outdoor offerings that support health and mental wellness for kids and adults, helping with relationship-building and fundraising, and collaborating with my amazing team. I'm a Kripalu-certified Mindful Outdoor Guide and trained in Gestalt Therapy and yoga philosophy. These inform my work greatly, especially towards my enduring respect for all of nature-including humans-the importance of allowing difference and dissent in true contact, practicing contentment, and deep compassion for self and others.I have 10 years of experience working Hospice and Palliative Care. When working in this role, I'm dedicated to partnering with patients and their loved ones to help them understand their disease, making plans of care that keep life meaningful, assessing how to reduce the less-discussed pains of being ill including social, spiritual, emotional and financial, and assisting with making and documenting difficult end-of-life decisions. Effective, calm, contactful, and empathic in difficult or complex situations. Always working in roles dedicated to education, compassion, and making life meaningful. Able to work happily within any population, with individuals and groups, comfortable in any location from the front desk, to classrooms, to shelters to the corporate office.
