About Molly Minteer
After completing several semesters as a studio art major with a concentration in printmaking at Rhode Island College, I discovered my passion for adolescent development, and added a major in psychology. By double majoring in these two areas, I was able to elicit my knowledge of fine art to further study the benefits of expressive arts as treatment. After several years of interning at Friends Way, Rhode Island’s only children’s bereavement center, I put this to the test by designing and testing expressive art activities among grieving children ages 3-18. Through this experience, I have become proficient in leading group sessions, developing expressive arts projects, and collaborating with co-facilitators. Upon graduating, I was hired as the program coordinator for FRIENDS WAY’s Sudden Loss Night. I aspire to explore the ways in which art helps in effectively treating childhood trauma and to create an outlet for nonverbal expression.
