Background
About Molly Ng
Background: I have ten years of managing research projects where I use data to test and/or build models in order to answer questions about our evolving Earth. 🤓 My Ph.D. in Earth & Environmental Sciences (subfocus Paleobotany) and B.Sc. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology means I have a wide expertise in climate, plants, ecology, evolution, and environmental systems. I am mission-driven, naturally curious, and solution-oriented. I approach problems from an interdisciplinary standpoint and use data to drive solutions. Adapted to work effectively in a fast-changing environment. I look forward to putting my skills to work for an organization that leverages science and data to help make an impact. Accomplishments: Used data and statistical methods to analyze data, develop models, and infer the implications of climate on Earth's history, e.g, I built a predictive model using modern plant-climate relationships to estimate climate in the past using fossils that matched nearby fossil localities. Published research in plant science peer-reviewed journals (see below for publication list) and presented my research at conferences like American Geophysical Union, Botanical Society of America, Geological Society of America, and European Palynological and Paleobotanical Colloquium Generated approximately $215k funding for research-related analyses, travel, and salary. Mentored undergraduates in research, cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment. Fun facts: I love looking at plants and will stop frequently on a hike to check them out. I am told often I have a unique perspective. I built a budget watering system for my graduate lab's growth chamber using Arduino, relay switches, water pumps, and irrigation hardware Some technical specialties: Coding languages in R and Python Communication skills GIS/Remote Sensing
