Background
About Monalisa Bal
Visionary Educator | Inclusive Learning Advocate | Transdisciplinary Scholar I have always believed education should inspire joy, not just pursue success. As Chairperson of KiiT International School for 17 years, this belief has guided my approach—whether through innovative teaching strategies, promoting inclusive classrooms, or ensuring every child feels valued and heard. My passion lies in advocating for Special Educational Needs (SEN), embracing neurodiversity, and creating empowering environments where every child can thrive. My academic journey has been equally personal. Earning my Doctorate in Effective Learning in a Joyful Environment was more than research—it was about transforming classrooms into spaces of discovery and belonging. This commitment inspired me to author An Insight into India’s Education Policy and the ebook Early Childhood Education and Care in India, published by Palgrave Macmillan under Springer Nature. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf) at Middlesex University, London, focusing on tailoring SEN curricula, alongside a Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) at Berhampur University, exploring the Right to Education (RTE) Act’s impact. Along the way, I have been honored to become a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, a Visiting Fellow at St. Mary’s University Twickenham, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). As a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Sussex and holder of Fellow (FHEA) status, I remain committed to excellence in teaching under the UK Professional Standards Framework. My leadership journey has been enriched by global collaborations, including the CAEL program at Cambridge University, UK, which has further fueled my commitment to shaping the future of education. At heart, I am an educator driven by the belief that learning should be as joyful as it is empowering. Whether through classroom experiences, meaningful conversations, or new initiatives, I continually seek to make education more inclusive, impactful, and inspiring.
