About Monica Boyd

I started working with the public in high school. My first job was with a local department store. I really loved the interaction with our customers. I especially enjoyed winning over the ones who were deemed difficult. The other saleswomen in the store always had me wait on one particular woman. I never let her particular bad humor get me down. Instead, I always smiled and stayed positive with her. I had no idea how this would one day benefit me. One day, I met my future in laws at a very small church they attended. As I walked in, who do you think was with my mother-in-law to be? Mrs. Difficult Customer actually smiled at me, hugged me and told my future mother in law how wonderful I was. The entire congregation was stunned. You see she was difficult with everyone, and for her to be happy to see me, I must have been doing something special. I took this realization with me as I continued to work with customers at TXU Electric, First State Bank-Italy, as well as various school business jobs at Italy ISD ranging from a school secretary, superintendent’s secretary, business manager and school business software consultant at Region 10. Now, I have the ultimate hospitality job as the Tourism and Event Manager for the, Waxahachie Convention & Visitors Bureau. I love welcoming people to our wonderful community. It is my pleasure to help the various groups plan and execute events and festivals, find accommodations, and navigate their way to numerous points of interest that Waxahachie offers. I am grateful that I can share the love I have for our city and help our visitors come to love it as well. If you can’t find me out and about our city, I probably can be found spending time with my wonderful husband, visiting with our two grown sons, interacting with our students in our Young Marrieds Sunday School class, reading a good book, or just sitting on my patio enjoying my wonderful view of God’s handiwork. I hope to get the opportunity to meet you soon!
