About Monica Davis

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with a passion for addressing mental health challenges and promoting well-being in marginalized and underserved communities. As a school therapist at Columbus Scioto 6-12 with Columbus City School District, I focus on applying trauma-informed care and practices to support students with a history of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. With a Master's in Social Work from The Ohio State University, I have gained extensive experience in clinical practice, working with individuals who have been significantly impacted by trauma. I am trained in specialized trauma treatments like EMDR and have practiced in both community health care organizations and school settings. My experience spans working with adults aged 18 and above, as well as youth aged 11-17 using an integrative approach of therapy modalities that fit the needs of each individual including, EMDR, CBT, DBT, IFS, and mindfulness practices & strategies. In recent years, I have pursued professional development and education in social justice and cultural responsiveness frameworks, such as Decolonization, Liberation, and Anti-Racism. My ultimate career goal is to become a holistic, Healing-Centered & Empowerment-Focused Trauma Specialist, dedicated to promoting equity, justice, and healing for individuals and communities affected by systemic trauma. My therapy approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, social justice, intersectionality, and empowerment. As I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for clients, I prioritize cultural humility, continuously learning about different cultural perspectives, and remaining open to each client's unique experiences and viewpoints. My dedication to social justice extends beyond the therapy room as I actively work to recognize and challenge oppressive systems and structures within society. By empowering clients to understand and challenge these systems, I foster resilience and promote healing. I am committed to continuous learning and self-reflection, ensuring my practice aligns with social justice frameworks & principles.
