About Monicque Landell

Monicque Landell is a public health professional who is problem-inspired, equity-minded, and people-driven. She finished her undergraduate studies in public health and sociology as a first-generation student at Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) with honors. She currently works as a clinical research assistant at Yale School of Nursing. Her primary focus is combatting maternal and child health inequities and inequalities while supporting community engagement. While at the Yale School of Nursing, she works with Dr. Kortney James of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) on multiple research studies that primarily focus on Black maternal, perinatal, and mental health outcomes of Black women in Los Angeles, California. Monicque was an apprentice for the Weill Cornell Emergency Medicine Department DiversifiED Summer Apprenticeship Program (DSAP) where she worked with other highly motivated students to create an environment for underrepresented students. Whilst enjoying her engagement with marginalized communities facing larger-scale health disparities, she has also helped build a community on her campus. She also led F&M’s Diplomat HeadStart First Year Advising Mentoring (FAM) program where she was a Co-Head FAM and collaborated and engaged with other mentors and incoming first-year students during their matriculation to and during their first year at Franklin & Marshall College. Among multiple scholarships and distinctions, she was selected as a Jamaican American Connection (JAC) Trailblazer Scholar where she received a scholarship based on her academic achievements, community involvement, and extracurricular activities. JAC’s purpose is to celebrate and preserve the unique Caribbean/West Indian heritage and to promote the positive values and traditions of its people while connecting and building meaningful partnerships with our brothers and sisters from the local communities within Connecticut and beyond. Monicque enjoys working with underserved and underrepresented populations to annihilate health disparities by encouraging and equipping communities to prosper. She is open to learning more about opportunities in public health and healthcare and is focused on developing her skill set around community-centered solutions and public health interventions driven by health equity.
