About Monique Hicks

Current educator and Cleveland State University alumni. I received my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2013 and my Master’s degree in Mild/Moderate disabilities along with the reading endorsement in 2017. I have completed core coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis and Teaching English as a Second Language. I have been an educator for nine years and I have served as a paraprofessional, Pre-K & 1st grade educator, and currently a Curriculum & Instruction Specialist. From each experience, I have gained core competencies including family management, inquiry implementation, behavior management, collaborative planning, and curriculum management. A great deal of my experience thus far has included building community partnerships with organizations such as The Cleveland Orchestra, Progressive Arts Alliance, Broadway School of Music and Arts, Kids Love Musicals, and the HALO program (Healthy Alternatives for Little Ones). With these experiences, I can contribute to building community partnerships on a school-wide level. My goal is to establish a positive school culture and educational programs aligned to the skills needed to be successful in the 21st century while promoting staff professional growth and development in an environment filled with teamwork and collaboration. While also coordinating efforts with parents and family members to ensure students remain inspired, focused, and receive appropriate attention to meet their needs.
