About Monique Reyes

My professional experience of over 30 years in the private and public sector of the pharmacy profession, the last 14 years being in health law, has instilled a sense of purpose to work toward a goal of a better future for healthcare. In my recent roles, I have gained insight into every aspect of administering the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 (NSW) and the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation 2008 (NSW), and interactions with intersecting legislation including the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 (NSW), the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, and the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth). I have developed a deep understanding of the implications of the regimes on the broader medicines, poisons and therapeutic goods regulatory framework on stakeholders. I have built and maintained collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders in public and private health systems, professional groups, and state and national government agencies. I continually seek opportunities to further develop inherent skills and learn new skills to achieve personal, professional and organisational goals. To this end, I completed a degree in Master of Health Law at the University of Sydney, which provided me with a solid foundation to build a strong understanding of the legal framework around the regulation of medicines and other health and drugs legislation. The People Leadership Program through the Australian Institute of Management, and the People Management Skills Program through the Health Education and Training Institute have forged and updated my leadership skills to effectively manage working with teams and with stakeholders, complementing my experience in leadership roles managing personnel in both hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy settings.
