About Monique Steele

I am a curious and enthusiastic news professional with a passion for telling stories that matter. Following my studies at the Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha/University of Canterbury and Denmark's School of Media and Journalism Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole in Aarhus, I have held a range of news and media roles in both mainstream and independent media companies, and also in local government. I have worked at Stuff formerly Fairfax Media's The Press newsroom in Christchurch, also on the Christchurch City Council's News and Media team and as a freelancer. I have been fortunate enough to live and work in markets outside of Aotearoa. To radio and digital, I was the Christchurch-based news reporter for MediaWorks' Today FM news and talk radio network when it launched. I am now working for Radio New Zealand on its Rural News team, covering news across the country's diverse primary industries.
