About Monique Wentzel

I'm a published fiction writer, an experienced writing teacher and editor, and an advocate for higher education accessibility for all. I am passionate about and skilled in guiding students through the landscape of higher education, and in giving them tools to strengthen their academic writing skills. I have had measurable success in inspiring and empowering students to take charge of their own path and I love working with all kinds of students, especially non-traditional college students. As an instructor for Stanford's Continuing Education program since 2016, I've had the opportunity to teach non-fiction writing courses I also have experience with professional editing; I've been head fiction editor for an online literary journal, and have edited multiple writing projects for private clients, from essays to books. In the last few years, I've worked towards a Masters degree in Ethics and Social Justice from a liberal, non-denominational seminary. Whether a writing choice, or choosing a major, or a career, I am fascinated by the choices we make and why we make them. Contextualizing those choices within theological and ethical frameworks has allowed me to take a broader view of teaching and of the literary arts.
