Background
About Morgan W.
Using Data to Empower People—and Drive Lasting Equity My career has always been about connection: between data and policy, research and action, government systems and the communities they serve. At the heart of my work is a deep belief that data, when used with integrity and intention, can empower people—and make our institutions more equitable, responsive, and humane. My journey in public service began in a rural village in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer. That experience showed me how resourceful, resilient communities can flourish when given the right tools and opportunities. I’ve carried that same perspective into my various roles, culminating in leadership at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where I’ve directed data modernization, equity research, and policy initiatives affecting more than 300 federal agencies. I lead with a collaborative, values-driven mindset—mentoring teams of researchers, analysts, and data scientists to turn complex information into practical solutions. Over the past 15+ years, I’ve used data-informed insights to uncover systemic barriers, improve federal programs, and shape policy reforms that create more inclusive workplaces. From developing methodologies to address employment discrimination to securing sustainable funding for leadership development, my work is guided by one goal: to bridge the gap between intention and impact—and to make equity real, not just aspirational. Along the way, I’ve been honored with various EEOC awards and recognized as a trusted advisor, speaker, and strategist in the federal equity and research space. But what drives me isn’t the recognition—it’s knowing that my work helps others thrive, especially those who’ve been historically excluded or overlooked. That’s the bridge I strive to build every day: from research to real-world impact, from systems to people, from insight to change. If you care about using data and research to make systems fairer and more human, we already have something in common. Let’s connect—and explore how we can create lasting change, together.
