I am an optimist. I'm also upset about a lot of injustice in the world, some far away and some here in the UK. I know we can do much better at building a world which is fairer and much safer for everyone - especially those seeking sanctuary. Why refugees in particular? Nobody ever asked my great-grandfather about his family, because we all know where they and millions of other Jews ended up. Back then, people looked the other way. Now, when I see people being treated unfairly simply for being who they are, I have no choice but to address it head-on. I am driven by a future which promises more than a repetition of the past. I have hope. This simple idea - that the future is still up for grabs - is the essence of my approach to work. I am also not as earnest in practice as I am on LinkedIn.I am looking to connect with people who want to build and scale solutions with and for those who are moving through the most difficult periods of their lives. I am particularly looking for disused laptops and phones so we can refurbish them and give them to those who are entirely offline. I am particularly keen to speak with anyone in Corporate ESG or the IT Asset Disposal industry for reasons you can imagine.The value I add to professional and community projects is a combination of deep commitment, vision, strategic thinking, communication, creativity, risk calculation and a strong network. My experience is in digital inclusion, refugee support, fundraising, social enterprise, lived experience participation, youth advocacy, volunteering and community building.I am not naive. Many social problems are complex. But I have seen first-hand that people facing hardship are not destined to do so. We won't make progress by complaining about the situation and its causes. We need to collaborate, innovate and get on with it.There is a lot to be done. There are also lots of people who are lucky enough to operate from a position of privilege, and who want to do what they can to repair the world. I sit firmly within that bracket, and have a clear sense of purpose based on my family history, Jewish values, a love of multiculturalism, community and the friends we do not yet know.
