As a Lube Technical Support, my role includes: recommending the right lubricant for specific applications, troubleshooting lubrication issues, both for lubricating oils and greases, and participating in customer lubricant analysis programs from the early stages of product penetration, through performance monitoring, and up to extending oil drain intervals. One of the most memorable troubleshooting experiences was resolving a product quality issue at a power plant. The lubricant, expected to last for 1 year or hours, but the oil analysis showed high oxidation levels after only 4 months of use. Upon investigation, the root cause was identified: the laboratory had used a different reference for the fresh oil compared to the used oil for FTIR analysis, leading to inaccurate analysis results.
