About Muhammad Shakil

A recurring question in my daily life is "how much better". How much better can I perform as an employee today? How much better can this software be developed to best support client needs? How much better could this process be if streamlined? This mindset serves as a guiding principle of my work at COUNTRY Financial, and my academic and personal ventures. During my tenure at COUNTRY Financial, I've had the privilege of programming some fascinating projects that advance efficiency, and improve the client experience. Most notably, I programmed an API Bulk Data Tool in Python, which was used to generate over test policies and saving thousands of hours of manual effort! Working as a Test Automation Engineer exposed me to a breadth of DevOps and Testing Technologies, such as ROBOT Framework, Selenium libraries, and GitLab CI/CD Pipelines. Currently, I am a Senior Software Engineer, dedicated to designing robust, scalable, and secure batch and realtime data systems to support crucial client functionalities and uphold the high-standards set by the corporation. The tools I work with daily include: Java & Spring for designing APIs and realtime interfaces, SQL to support data integration, and Informatica to power ETL systems. Moreover, I am excited and committed to advancing our operational procedures, team-work, and coding standards. This role has also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the Insurance & Finance Industry and the mission it supports. Apart from that, I am a proud University of Minnesota Alum - Go Gophers! When I'm not holed up in front of a screen, I enjoy running, Spike Ball, and picking up something new to learn - I am currently working on completing my Azure AZ900 certification!
