About Muhammad Umair

I am working as a Principal Investigator (PI) and Team Leader in Functional Studies at the Medical Genomics Research Department at King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre (KAIMRC), King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Hospital, Riyadh. Current projects include Genetic characterization of rare diseases, Genodermatosis, Skeletal disorders, Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), Pre-Implantation Genetic screening (PGS), and PPGTM. I have published more than 150 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. Our group is a leader in implementing precision medicine, using next-generation sequencing to tackle the genetic structure and disease-causing mutations in Riyadh, KSA. We also have a disease-focused approach, in which we work very closely with clinicians at NGHA to identify patients and families with rare genetic diseases suitable for using whole genome sequencing to identify the causative mutation(s).
