About Muhammad Yusron

My name is Muhammad Yusron. I live in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, and I am 26 years old. My background family in the convenience store business and originally as farmers in an industrial area. I started veterinary school in 2016 and received my bachelor's degree in 2020 before continuing to a professional program of veterinary medicine and graduating in 2021. I've always been a fan of wildlife. I completed my three-year stay as a wildlife veterinarian. I did health assessments on rare and protected species, induce anesthesia, collecting biological samples, and performed necropsies on animals found dead to determine the cause of death. From December 2021 to January 2023, I worked at Taman Safari Indonesia at Prigen area of East Java, and then I moved to Medan to work for Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme, since April 2023 to December 2024. We dealed with situations such as conflicts between orangutans and humans, rescuing and taking in orangutans who have been displaced from their homes, then moving or rehabilitating them until they are released back into the wild forest, while still recording and monitoring how they live there. As long as I've worked, I've seen how we've gotten too close to nature's ecosystem of life and realized that we still have a lot of work to do to save not only the animals, but nature. For example, plantation monoculture areas can be a factor that affects the isolation of orangutan and the diversity of their natural food, affecting dental performance. To obtain food, they would relocate to agroforesty land, and mixed forest forced them to reside and dwell on community land. This close interaction between humans and wild species increases the potential of intestinal parasites, therefore the concept of one health may become a viable solution to the problem. I understand the vital significance of not only healthy animals, but also human health in general. Thus, attending the International Conference on Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease is critical to my profession since it provides me with the most up-to-date information on tropical diseases and global health.
