About Muneeb Tariq

Muneeb has more than 11 years of professional experience in the field of Water Resources specific to IWRM, development and designing of NbS projects, flood modelling, and spatial technology applications. He holds a master’s degree in Water Resources Management from UNESCO-IHE, Institute for Water Education, Delft, Netherlands graduated in 2018. Currently, he is working as PhD. research associate in University of Lincoln, United Kingdom. He was also the Manager of Freshwater Programme at Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), to develop and implement work focused on Nature-based Solutions (NbS), including ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) to climate change, and climate change mitigation. He has successfully secured over USD 80 million in new project funding including: Recharge Pakistan: Building Pakistan’s Resilience to Climate Change through Ecosystem-Based Adaptation for Integrated Flood Risk Management funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF). He was also given the Best Performance Award by WWF - Panda of the Year 2023. He also has a significant experience in working with communities, the government (federal, provincial, and district/local levels), industries, civil society, international and national organizations, and corporate entities, towards the conservation of the environment and improving the management of natural resources with a specific focus on NbS. Previously, his work in Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Investment Programme (PIAIP) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) was on designing of hydraulic structures and flood modelling using Hydraulic and Hydrological tools. Lastly, he has also won numerous fellowships and awards related to IWRM.
